Moxie Maples | New England Fall Mug

Bring the brilliant colors of a New England fall to your morning coffee or tea.

Featuring Moxie Maples, this mug is filled with the fiery oranges, warm reds, golden yellows and deep greens of an early October landscape in New Hampshire. The colorful reflections in the water make the artwork especially lovely wrapped around a mug—and bring a little of that fleeting fall beauty indoors long after the leaves have disappeared.

The original painting was inspired by a scene along Route 101 near Peterborough, New Hampshire. Its name is a playful nod to Moxie, the classic New England soft drink, and to the brilliant maple trees that make autumn here so memorable.

This generously sized 15 oz ceramic mug is:

• BPA & Lead-free
• Holds 15 oz of your favorite beverage any time of day
• Microwave & dishwasher safe
• Has a comfortable C-handle and a shiny finish

Care Instructions: They say the mugs are dishwasher safe, but I find that any printed mug does better with a handwashing using warm water and soap…

The Story Behind the Art

The scene that inspired Moxie Maples was found in an unlikely spot—a little creek across the parking lot from a New Hampshire liquor store. Someone jokingly suggested naming the painting Cabernet Canopy, but those brilliant orange maples called for something more distinctly New England: Moxie Maples.

And the painting's story didn't end there. The original was later stolen from a small consignment shop in Salem, New Hampshire and was never recovered. While its whereabouts remain a mystery, the image lives on—and so does that glorious burst of New England fall color.
