The Story Behind the Art

The Afternoon Nap was inspired by a quiet moment during a rainy weekend with friends on Martha’s Vineyard, when I discovered Bigsley completely content and asleep on the bed. The soft light and peaceful scene were too wonderful not to capture—and eventually became this painting.
